Corrupt Inky Mirror steals "2024 Pet Halloween Costume Contest" crown from true victors, Millie & Walter.
Background
In October 2024, the Inquirer & Mirror hosted its annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest. Millie & Walter worked for weeks on their costumes, racking their brains for the most Nantucket-inspired-culturally relevant holiday garb. They settled on a "couples costume," with Millie opting for the recently desecrated Main Street Fountain, and Walter dressing as an Unidentified White Pickup Truck (IYKYK).
Millie & Walter dressed to the 9s (well Walter, speed unknown), submitted their photo, and were approved by contest organizers after about 24 hours. Voting began, and they garnered mass support. Democracy was alive and well. After voting ended and the contest concluded, Millie & Walter were subsequently removed from the contest without cause, and voting reopened for an additional 24 hours. We can assume that they were the clear victors, and someone at the corrupt Inky Mirror did not want them to take the title and lead the Halloween parade.
Their image has been stricken from the history books. 1st place went to a small dog dressed as a panda (cute but store bought, l give it a 6/10), and 2nd place went to a hedgehog in a bucket. Not even dressed up, literally just a hedgehog in a trick-or-treat pail.
While Millie & Walter are immensely disappointed they were disqualified, they will not be silenced, and will continue to be annoying about this cause for as long as it takes for the Inky Mirror to apologize.
Thank you for your unwavering support!
